Berlin, 05 April 2022 – The connectivity project Mobility inside (Mi) has successfully launched the first four apps that are built on the Mi platform, linking public transport across regions. Mobimeo is a technology partner of the project and develops the front end as white-label apps. The apps of the participating transport companies and associations are now available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Since its launch, Mobility inside has pursued the goal of making multimodal mobility in Germany accessible across the boundaries of transport networks. The now live Mi apps of Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG), Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV), the transport department of Dortmunder Stadtwerke (DSW21) and Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Straßenbahnen AG (BOGESTRA) offer exactly that. In addition to public transport services, users can choose from a variety of modes of transport, such as car and bike sharing, and thus select the modes that make most sense for their individual route.

What’s more, route search and ticket sales function across all transport networks. So users can buy tickets for other connected networks and for long-distance transport directly in the app.

As one of the technology partners of the project, Mobimeo has developed and implemented a white-label approach for the Mi apps. This approach brings benefits to the Mi partners and app users alike. For instance, the apps can be quickly adapted to the design of the respective transport association or company (configurability). Meanwhile, users can easily find the name and brand of their accustomed regional provider in the app stores; the familiar design ensures a high recognition value.

The launch of the first four Mi apps is a great success for the industry’s connectivity project and an important step towards making sustainable mobility in Germany even more attractive and easily accessible.

John David von Oertzen, Chief Executive Officer, Mobimeo GmbH:

“Until now, people in Germany have needed many different mobility apps on their smartphones in order to get around in multiple cities using various mobility services. For the first time, the Mi apps give users cross-city functionality of their accustomed transport association app. They can book routes and tickets for other participating associations directly in their app. The white-label approach of the apps means the design can be quickly adapted and the complexity of getting them into the app stores is greatly reduced.” The Mi apps are available to download from Apple’s App Store and Google Play.

Ralf Nachbar, Managing Director, Mobility inside Plattform GmbH:

“Mobility inside is a major milestone on the road to digitalisation of public transport and the transport transition in Germany. The Mi apps of the participating transport associations and companies not only let users choose between different modes of transport for their route, but also map Germany-wide routes, including local and long-distance transport. We are glad to have Mobimeo on board as a capable partner to deliver a modern white-label solution for this innovative platform.”

The Mi apps can be downloaded in Apple's App Store and the Google Play Store.
